The Alliance for Community Media is seeking applications for scholarships to attend its national conference in San Francisco on May 29-31. The scholarships are so interns, staff of small access centers, access volunteers, independent producers and those traditionally denied access to the media can attend the conference, the ACM says.
To apply, submit an application to your local public, education and government channel access center or region board or to the Equal Opportunity Caucus by April 5 at 5 p.m. PST, according to Keri Stokstad, the ACM board’s chair. However, Stokstad did not say if that deadline, specifically the time, applied to Alaska, Hawaii or American territories in the Pacific such as Guam, Saipan or Samoa.
For the 2013 conference, the Alliance is awarding a single EO Caucus scholarship, but each ACM Region, in good standing, will be awarded a Grassroots scholarship enabling a “deserving” access user, staffer or volunteer to attend.
The scholarship application can be obtained from the ACM website, the organization says. Applicants should be sure to complete all of the information and ensure that contact information is accurate, the ACM says.
Access centers receiving applications are responsible for forwarding the completed applications to the region representative for region applications and to the EO representative for EO applications, according to the alliance.
The deadline for centers to forward completed scholarship applications to the EO/region representatives is April 9, Additional deadlines are:
- April 19, EO and region representatives review and select recipients
- April 30, scholarship recipients must return the completed registration forms to EO/region representatives
- May 6, the regions are to notify ACM staffer Greg Morrison of any unused scholarships
