NASA Creates Mixed Reality Version of ISS for Astronaut Training

NASA has used Unreal Engine to create a simulation of ISS that helps astronauts train for life in outer space.

As NASA software engineer Matthew Noyes explains, “NASA is always interested in integrating cutting-edge technologies into our systems. At a fundamental level, training our astronauts to explore space is kind of like creating a game. We immerse the user in a fabricated three-dimensional environment and have them complete objectives under various constraints. A game engine like Unreal contains many elements to facilitate meeting our training goals.”
