Most people will never climb Mt. Everest for real, but a new VR experience from Sports Illustrated can make anyone feel like they’re there. Capturing Everest is premiering at Sundance and will then be released on Sports Illustrated‘s digital properties.
“Everything you think you know is wrong,” producer Lauren Selig tells Adweek about advice she’d give to VR filmmakers after making this project. “Every aspect of VR, from acquisition to delivery is entirely different from any other form of media. VR solves a huge problem marketers have around engagement and awareness. You have to make it immersive, impactful, memorable, novel, tactile, effective and keep brand integrity.”
