Pioneering VR studio Jaunt has released a free downloadable “Cinematic VR Field Guide” filled with best practices for shooting in 360 degrees.
They explain, “Filming in VR for the first time can be daunting since many of the old rules of cinematography no longer apply. This guide provides filmmakers with everything they need to know when entering into VR filmmaking. It includes an introduction to the basics, plus sections about camera motion, mounts and rigging, directing the action, getting out of the way, blocking and ‘framing’ in 360°, lighting and exposure, and more. Soon we’ll be publishing additional sections on sound, post-production, editing, compositing, color, and adding interactivity.”
