The New York Times has brought a VR twist to its annual Great Performances video series.

This year's 9 noir-inspired short films place the viewers in a key role playing opposite the likes of Natalie Portman, Kristen Stewart, Don Cheadle and more. Gina Prince-Bythewood writes and directs them all.
