Google’s VR Filmmaker Jessica Brillhart: VR Films Are More About the World Than Traditional Stories

Google’s VR filmmaker Jessica Brillhart spoke at EmTech MIT 2016 this week about the lessons learned as she’s explored the world of virtual reality films, namely that creating immersive worlds is more important than a straightforward narrative.

“Game designers understand that they’re creating an experiential hub for potential stories and not a direct one-to-one story,” she said, as reported by MIT Technology Review. “They come up with a general idea and provide players with the means to discover the story on their own.”
