UN Launches Sidra Project VR Initiative at Toronto International Film Festival

The UN’s acclaimed Clouds Over Sidra project–which showcases the plight of refugees through the eyes of a 12-year-old girl–is the centerpiece of the new Sidra Project which launched at the Toronto International Film Festival in conjunction with Artscape.

Artscape CEO Tim Jones explain on The Huffington Post that the project is a “collaboration to combine the VR experience with a community engagement process and a call-to-action that aims to build empathy for refugees and support for resettlement efforts…In the months that follow, facilitators will take the project into board rooms, classrooms, public venues and private residences with hundreds of screenings for gatherings of 15 to 60 people. If it works, we’ll explore ways to take this initiative across Canada and around the world.”
