Many news outlets including ABC News, CNN and The Huffington Post are dipping their toes into the virtual reality and 360-degree waters, and this month’s national conventions have proven to be perfect testing grounds.
“There’s an opportunity with 360 [degree video] and true VR where it’s almost cinema verité,” Bryn Mooser, co-founder of VR company Ryot (recently acquired by The Huffington Post), tells Digiday. “I want to be standing in the middle of a crowd during a protest. I want to be standing in the middle of the hall when the balloons drop — rather than see a photograph of it.”
