Houston Uses VR to Help Boost Tourism

Visit Houston, the city’s tourism bureau, has partnered with VR company YouVisit to create a series of 360-degree videos that capture 12 of the Texas city’s most alluring locales: from the NASA Space Center and the Houston Ballet to Minute Maid Park and beyond.

The results so far have been promising, with viewers spending an average of 10 minutes watching the pieces.

“It’s an experience that you can’t get from Trip Advisor or Yelp,” Abi Mandelbaum, CEO of YouVisit, tells Adweek about the experience. “When you can get a traveler to feel what it’s like to actually be there, it changes the game and moves your destination to the top of the list because you’ve offered them something memorable.”
