The BBC has announced several new and upcoming 360-degree and VR projects, three of which are premiering at the Sheffield/Doc Fest today.
We Wait is an animated piece that places viewers on a perilous boat journey as Turkish refugees. Trooping the Color places viewers in Queen Elizabeth II’s spot at her annual birthday parade while Home–A VR Spacewalk sends viewers into outer space.
“We are looking to work out what works and what doesn’t,” Andy Conroy, the BBC’s controller of research and development, tells The Hollywood Reporter. “Some of this is basic, entry-level [technology like 360 video]. Other offers are much more immersive, true VR content.”
