Google has been in the business of making interactive animated shorts for a few years now with its Spotlight Stories series. But now, with virtual reality becoming more and more ubiquitous, it has posted its latest one directly on YouTube for the first time.
The Christmas-themed “Special Delivery” is created by Wallace and Gromit studio Aardman Animation and is viewable on select mobile devices and/or via Google cardboard as an interactive experience that lets you “cut” the film to your liking depending on where you focus your eyes.
“In the full interactive experience, you’ll encounter 10 subplots, three potential ways to view the ending, and 60+ moments where you can decide to follow the story in different ways,” Google promises on their blog. “Each viewing is unique. We don’t want to spoil the ending, so that’s all we’ll say for now…”
