Valenti Vision Films, an independent film and television production company in New Jersey, produces everything from movies and television shows to live sports and entertainment. With two multicamera production trucks, Vision 1 and Vision 2, Valenti Vision Films captures and broadcasts live events at venues including Madison Square Garden, MetLife Stadium, Rutgers University, Foxwoods Casino, Wells Fargo Center and Princeton University.

During live events, four to seven cameras are fed into a Blackmagic ATEM 2 M/E Production Switcher, along with a replay machine and two graphics feeds from a Datavideo CG-350—one for the video fill and one for the key using a Blackmagic DeckLink 4K Extreme card. An SDI feed is run out of the computer directly into the ATEM, and either a Blackmagic HyperDeck Shuttle or a DVD player runs moving backgrounds into the ATEM for full-screen graphics or motion animations. With fiber running in both trucks, 22 Blackmagic Mini Converter Optical Fiber units convert the feeds to SDI.

For most sports broadcasts, including MMA Fighting’s “Grapple at the Garden” at Madison Square Garden and Princeton NCAA football games, the ATEM is used to its fullest ability, incorporating SuperSource multilayer engine, graphics, keying in the clock, replay moves, moving backgrounds and more. SuperSource is also sometimes used to key in the entire scoreboard, eliminating the need for an extra graphics person on smaller productions.
