TV Content and Device Choices Lead to Need to Simplify User Experience

A new study from Universal Electronics in Europe has found that the huge choice of TV content and peripheral devices has led to a shift in viewing patterns and desires: especially when it comes to finding a universal remote control.

"What we are seeing is a huge shift in viewing behaviors, brought about by the sheer choice of content and available devices that viewers have,” says senior VP subscription broadcasting Menno Koopmans to Rapid TV News. “For broadcasters and manufacturers, the challenge then becomes to meet audiences’ needs while ensuring their business models are viable. Ultimately, it comes down to simplifying the user experience.”
