YouTube Red Plans for Original Content

To attract viewers to its $9.99/month service, YouTube Red has announced plans to release at least 10 original films and series starting next year. With the new service, the video site is looking to compete with fellow subscription services liks Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hulu.

"YouTube is trying to leverage the video stars they have created as something unique, and now with the Red subscription they are paving the way for a new kind of new monthly relationship with users,” Brian Blau, a research director at Gartner, tells US News.
