NYT VR Film 'The Displaced' Is a Devastating Look at a Global Problem

The New York Times launched its virtual reality app last week and with it an immersive short documentary called The Displaced, which places viewers squarely into the shoes of three child refugees to devastating effect.

"It's something that you don't want to see," co-director Imraan Ismail tells The Creators Project about how the piece makes viewers feel. "For whatever reason our brain just can't handle the size and scope of this problem, as well as the helplessness associated with it... It's like Beasts of the Southern Wild, but real."
