The New York Times Releases Journalistic Documentary for VR

The New York Times and Google are collaborating to bring virtual reality documentary The Displaced to millions of viewers.

Google Cardboard VR viewers will be distributed to Times subscribers to encourage them to view the film, about child war refugees, on the nascent platform.

Times executive editor Dean Baquet says The Displaced is "the first critical, serious piece of journalism using virtual reality, to shed light on one of the most dire humanitarian crises of our lifetime.”
