Oculus Cinema Strives to Recreate the Moviegoing Experience

Publish date:

PSFK reports on expected new functionality for Oculus Cinema, the VR experience that lets the user feel like he/she is inside a real movie theater. Ido Lechner reports, "Oculus wants to fashion the experience around the familiarity and sociability of going to the movies...As social creatures, most would prefer to share experiences like watching a movie with others, constructing platforms where that’s made possible will likely boost the virtual reality industry’s survivability.

"Online multiplayer videogames and virtual movie theaters," the writer sums up, "are merely the catalytic experiments for a new era of immersion and connectivity."

Still TBD: whether in a virtual cinema the user will be able to strangle the virtual blabbermouths in the virtual next row.
