Heresy and Specular Theory Deliver Out-of-Theater Experiences for ‘Terminator: Genisys’

In promotion of Terminator: Genisys, creative studio Heresy created three action-packed short webisodes featuring popular YouTube stars SuperWoman (Lilly Singh), Tobuscus (Toby Turner), Ricky Hayberg, Eliot Dewberry and more being attacked at the YouTube Space LA by a Terminator with a fatal agenda. The epic battle was written by Emmy award-winning screenwriter Jay Bushman and directed by Heresy’s Charles Paek and Rob Gilbert.

Once you watch the fight go down in 2D, try your hand at being the Terminator yourself in the 360 video “Terminator Genisys: The YouTube Chronicles in 360” out of Venice-based virtual reality studio Specular Theory. Viewers see through the eyes of a Terminator and become completely immersed in the battle against the YouTube stars at the YouTube Space LA. But be careful – Arnold Schwarzenegger himself just may try to take you down.

Viewers can interact with the video by using their mouse to drag the screen to view the action in 360 degrees, or tilting their smartphone if they are viewing on a mobile device. If viewers have Google Cardboard, they can even view the experience in virtual reality. Specular Theory produced and created the immersive Terminator Genisys 360 experience using their proprietary technology and visual effects, including building their own camera rig and VR video production pipeline.
