MTV has launched two new OTT apps, MTV Play and MTV Trax, designed to cater to millennials who are regularly consuming content on their smartphones.
As Rapid TV News explains, “MTV Play comprises a VOD service featuring many of MTV’s most popular shows and, thanks to the first ever implementation of technology from Dutch multi-platform provider Vigour, consumers can switch between devices when watching programmes by flicking content from the app to other screens using nothing more than an Internet connection. This removes the need to download the app on multiple devices or use a plug in, thus, says MTV, making it ‘incredibly easy’ to enjoy content on any screen. For its part, the MTV Trax music streaming app is designed for casual music consumers who MTV believes can be put off by expensive ‘all you can eat’ services.”
