MIT Scientists Closer to Creating True Holograms

A group of scientists at MIT, led by electrical engineer Daniel Smiley, have announced that they are making progress in creating true 3D holographic videos with the help of sound waves that are used to manipulate color light waves.

Says Smalley, “We can use this technology to make simple and inexpensive color waveguide displays—including inexpensive holographic video displays. This can drop the cost of a holographic video display from tens of thousands of dollars to less than a thousand.”
