HuffPost Live's eight hours of daily live news video has a different end goal than might be expected. The news site is currently using their robust live video set-up to subsidize costs for churning out a high volume of on-demand video clips.
As HuffPost president Roy Sekoff tells Digiday, "In our vision for it, the first three years were going to be focused most on the video-on-demand piece. Live is the way we keep our costs fixed. I know what I spend every hour.”
