Facebook Video Causes Surge in Bandwidth Use

A new chart from broadband network company Sandvine shows a spike in bandwidth use for Facebook users that is directly correlated to the social network's introduction of auto-play video into news feeds.

Writes Re/code, "Facebook’s bandwidth usage is up 60 percent on mobile and more than 200 percent on the fixed network. Bear in mind that Facebook says it took steps to minimize video’s impact on mobile users, who are generally dealing with data caps."
