Netflix's push into original content continues with the acquisition of several social issue documentaries including Mission Blue, a portrait of ocean conservationist Sylvia Earle. In the case of Mission Blue, Netflix seemed like the natural choice for the filmmakers and subject to get their film's environmental message across to as many people as possible.
"With the public behind it anything is possible. But if the public doesn’t get behind it, then nothing will happen," Earle tells Filmmaker Magazine.
