Syfy is making an event out of the sequel to its surprise social hit Sharknado.
The network's tongue-in-cheek Sharknado Week will feature apps, Twitter contests, meme creators and more, in addition to the premiere of movies Sharknado 2: The Second One, Sharktopus vs. Pteracuda, and Mega Shark vs. Mecha Shark.
Syfy EVP of marketing, digital and global brand strategy Michael Engleman tells Brief, "If we want to get to 60 miles per hour, we’re already starting at 30. It’s just really fun to talk about. Humor is built right into the title. So we put the consumer at the center of everything, allowing them to the become ambassadors on our behalf as much as they’d like, giving them tools to share as much as they’d like.”
