Want to know how the irreverent live-streamed YouTube Music Awards got made? YouTube has released a 20-minute behind-the-scenes documentary showing Spike Jonze, Chris Milk and more of its creatives hard at work to create the spectacle.

Milk adds, "What YouTube is about is people making stuff that they're passionate about and we are trying to create that same atmosphere. We make music videos for a living, we do not make live music videos and by adding that component to it, it makes it nearly impossible."
