The Seven Commandments of Becoming a Better Editor

In the below video, editor Vashi Nedomansky gives his seven commandments for becoming a better film editor.

His first rule: Watch every frame of raw footage twice. “You have to live that footage before you start editing,” he explains. “If you just go to circle takes [the takes singled out by the director as the best ones], and start building a scene, you’re doing a huge disservice not only to yourself, but to the film, to the directors, to everyone.”
