Santa Monica, CA, November 10, 2006 - Currently celebrating its 10 year anniversary, Wow and Flutter West, one of the most respected and award winning original music, sound design and audio post production companies in Los Angeles, has named David Marcus as Director of Operations for its Wow and Flutter Post operating unit. Jerry Brunskill, founder, Wow and Flutter West, made the announcement.

Prior to joining Wow and Flutter, Marcus had been working as a freelance consultant for audio post studios nationwide, acting in an advisory capacity to help facilitate their expansions and the streamlining of their infrastructures.

In his new post, Marcus will be responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of the facility as well as consulting with corporate executives on strategic planning and marketing.

With a career spanning nearly a quarter century, David Marcus has been instrumental in the development of infrastructures and techniques within the audio post production business. His unique combination of skills as both a consummate Jazz guitarist/performer and master audio mixing engineer has earned him the acquired title: “Dr. Dave: The Surgeon of Sound.”

As one of the founders of Modern Sound in Hollywood, California, Marcus was the first sound editor in Hollywood to utilize sampling technology to edit episodic television. Pioneering this electronic postproduction technique in such shows as “MacGyver,” and “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” he then took his talents to New York City where he was a primal force in the dissemination of digital audio technology. While at Magno, New York, Marcus mixed and edited feature films and commercials for an international array of clients and studios. A native Californian, he relocated back to Hollywood in 1990 where he became one of the chief mixers and head sound designer of Margarita Mix, Hollywood.

While at Margarita Mix, Marcus mixed some of the top advertising campaigns of the 1990‘s including Apple, Lexus, Coke, IBM, as well as IMAX features and theatrical trailers. He relocated to Dallas, and worked as a consultant and engineer for Post-Op, Inc. There, he helped to streamline and modernize their audio facility and train the staff in Hollywood-style post production techniques.

Later, Marcus was involved in a joint venture with Mad River Post. Working with principal James Appleton and top Hollywood editor Brad Wetmore, he constructed a state-of-the-art audio mixing suite. Marcus has performed at the Village Vanguard in New York City with Jazz legend Cedar Walton, as well as performing with his own group, “The Jazz Surgeons.” With more than 30,000 hours in the studio, Marcus‘s nickname, “Dr. Dave, the Surgeon of Sound,” is a fitting tribute.
