WideScreen Games Select REALVIZ® Movimento For 2007 Production Slate

Sophia Antipolis, France (January 23, 2007) – REALVIZ®, a leader in image processing software development, is pleased to announce that French game developer, WideScreen Games, has selected Movimento as their motion capture solution of choice for their 2007 production program. Movimento is a state-of-the-art video-based motion capture solution, “Powered by SMART”, REALVIZ‘ powerful automatic 3D tracking engine. Lyon-based WideScreen Games develops state-of-the-art action-adventure videogames for PlayStation®2, Xbox, PlayStation®3, Xbox 360™ as well as PC. REALVIZ will be demonstrating Movimento at booth #B8 at next week‘s IMAGINA show, which takes place at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco (31. Jan. – 2. Feb. 2007).

REALVIZ Movimento was unveiled at SIGGRAPH 2006 in Boston, and offers the unique capability to capture the motion of any non-rigid object (humans, animals) in post-production, from synchronized image sequences with total flexibility:

– Starting from 2 cameras to as many as required

– Cameras can be fixed or moving.

– Cameras can be of different frame rates and definitions

– No need for a motion capture studio

REALVIZ Movimento expands the boundaries of the traditional motion capture studio by offering the ability to take the motion capture process beyond the studio to where the action is. Movimento offers users a complete and flexible solution for facial, hand, arm and full-body motion capture across a wide range of applications, from special effects, bio-mechanical research, sports science, orthopedics and engineering to behavioral analysis.

“This system will enable us to reduce our production time on future projects, and to obtain results of an ultra-realistic quality – for example, when working with actors specialized in martial arts,” explains Olivier Masclef, Managing Director of WideScreen Games “We will be able to build a database of movements, which can then be re-used on other productions, or to complete specific projects quicker and more efficiently than ever before. Our acquisition of Movimento ties in perfectly with our current growth strategy; it will significantly boost our productivity and our turnaround time, both of which are essential elements in game creation for today‘s generation of consoles. ”

“We‘re delighted that WideScreen Games has chosen our complete 8-camera Movimentio system for their motion capture work. Their choice was made based on the unique flexibility, which our solution was able to offer them: all forms of motion capture are possible (facial, full-body, hands); The system is made-to-measure (you are able to choose the type and number of cameras you wish to use, and their resolution); You are not bound by the constraints of a standard mocap studio and equipment; The solution is open and evolutionary thanks to the scripting. We‘re very excited to be working with the team at WideScreen Games, and look forward to the exchange of ideas, which will result from the integration of Movimento into their daily production chain.” François Belot, REALVIZ SFX Manager
