. Los Angeles CA / Boston MA - The Final Cut Pro User Group Network (FCPUG Network) today have announced the Second Annual Boston SuperMeet, to take place on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at the Stuart Street Playhouse at the Radisson Hotel Boston in Boston, MA. Doors open at 2pm with the "SuperMeet Digital Showcase" featuring over 15 software and hardware developers. SuperMeet Presentations will begin at 7:00PM and continue until 10:00PM. Tickets are on sale online only for the Early Bird price of $10.00 each (Early Bird price ends October 9, 2011) and $7.00 for students and Teachers with valid ID. The Boston SuperMeet marks the last city stop in celebration of the Tenth Anniversary of SuperMeets in 2011 and is expected to sell out as historically every SuperMeet sells out. "We're very proud and excited to bring our Tenth Anniversary SuperMeet celebration in 2011 to a close in Boston, home to key players in our industry such as Avid and Autodesk, Boris FX, EditShare, GenArts, Noise Industries and others," states Daniel Bérubé, SuperMeet co-producer and founder of Boston's Final Cut Pro User Group (BOSFCPUG). "Think of the Boston SuperMeet as the creative networking gala for Boston area filmmakers to come together to share in conversation about where the industry is headed. We don't care what tools you use to share your stories, our focus is to inspire and empower digital content creators to action." Scheduled to appear on stage will be Oscar and BAFTA winning film and sound editor Walter Murch, who has recently completed post production on director Philip Kaufman’s “Hemingway and Gellhorn,” staring Nicole Kidman, Clive Owen and Robert Duvall. "I'm very excited to be part of another SuperMeet, especially in the present moment of great ferment, and in Boston where I have many family connections," states Murch. “We are very pleased and honored to have Walter Murch speak at the Boston SuperMeet,” comments Bérubé. “We look forward not only to hearing Walter's thoughts on Final Cut Pro X but more importantly we are truly excited to offer SuperMeet attendees a rare chance to listen to and learn more from Walter on the craft of editing itself.” “Walter has always been a great supporter of SuperMeets," adds Michael Horton, SuperMeet co-producer and founder of the Los Angeles Final Cut Pro User Group (LAFCPUG). “Over the past years Walter has presented at SuperMeets in San Francisco, London, Las Vegas and now Boston. Boston is very fortunate to have him and we expect a huge turnout.” In addition to Murch, the Boston SuperMeet will also feature user-driven presentations from Avid, Autodesk, Blackmagic Design and Canon, all of whom have supported the SuperMeets in the past. Avid will feature a very special guest editor from Hollywood who will share Avid workflow and show off the latest version of Media Composer. Most recently, Avid shared the SuperMeet stage in Amsterdam this past September with a discussion on Avid workflow between Avid's Michael Krulik and Hollywood film editor Eddie Hamilton, co-editor of "X-Men: First Class" and "Kick-Ass." Autodesk will bring onto the stage visual effects artist Toronto-based Marc-André Ferguson, the Smoke Industry Manager at Autodesk. Marc-André will be onstage demonstrating the groundbreaking new workflow for Smoke on Mac. Using the latest MacBook Pro and a Promise Technology Pegasus Thunderbolt RAID, Ferguson will show how users can now bring the power of Smoke on the road. A long-time Final Cut Pro editor, Ferguson will focus on Smoke's editorial tools and demonstrate how accessible Autodesk Smoke really is, how to blast past the apparent steep learning curve it has and hit the ground running. "During my editing career, I used Avid and FCP with a healthy dose of After Effects to get to where I wanted with the projects I worked on," states Ferguson. "Like many others doing finishing work, I aspired to use Smoke, which was out of my reach at the time. Now that Smoke is available on the Mac platform, it's accessible to a lot more people, even to those who don't build complex effects for Hollywood blockbusters and big budget advertisement." A long-time supporter of the SuperMeets, Blackmagic Design will show off the latest in color grading workflow with DaVinci Resolve for Mac. Most recently, Blackmagic Design shared the SuperMeet stage with Avid in Amsterdam with London-based colorist Dado Valentic, well known for his grading and retouching work for the fashion and beauty industry. An award-winning artist, Valentic spends most of his time in London grading feature films, commercials and documentaries, including the BAFTA winning 3D project "Flying with Monsters" (2011) and the world's first 3D opera "Carmen in 3D" (2011). Canon will add to the scheduled user-driven presentations with a notable filmmaker who will show their latest work using Canon's line of DSLRs and professional camcorders. Most recently, Canon shared the SuperMeet stage earlier this year in San Francisco with Michael Blieden, staff writer/director and D.P. for NBC's "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon." Blieden discussed his directorial and D.P. work on Fallon's Born To Run opening number for the 2010 Emmy Awards, a Glee inspired skit which featured Fallon, Tina Fey and members from the cast of "Glee." Rounding out the evening will be the always wild and fun "World Famous Raffle," where thousands of dollars worth of valuable filmmaker-related prizes will be handed out to dozens of lucky winners. “The World Famous Raffle has become a hallmark of the SuperMeets since the very beginning,” adds Horton. “It is unlike anything you have ever seen at an event like this. It’s a chance for the attendees to loosen up and go a little crazy and have some fun. We literally give away tens of thousands of dollars worth of prizes donated by our generous sponsors. At this SuperMeet alone we will be giving away a license of Autodesk Smoke for Mac, which retails for just under $15,000. And that’s just one prize.” Doors are scheduled to open at 2pm with the SuperMeet Digital Showcase featuring over 15 software and hardware developers including AJA, Autodesk, Blackmagic Design, Avid, Adobe, Boris FX, Genarts, HB Communications, EditShare, G-Tech, Matrox, Pond 5, Rule Boston Camera, and many others. Here, attendees can enjoy a few cocktails, mingle and party with industry peers, network one on one with leading manufacturers and learn about the latest trends in collaborative editing workflows for post production and broadcast markets. Tickets are only (Early Bird) $10.00 each (includes 2 raffle tickets) for Adults and $7.00 for students and Teachers and are on sale online only. EarlyBird tickets expire October 9, 2011 and increase to $15.00 online, or $20.00 at the door. Complimentary hot hors d'oeuvres and cash bars will be available throughout the evening. SuperMeets are held annually in San Francisco, Austin, Las Vegas, Amsterdam, London and Boston and feature user-driven demos of new products, collaborative production and post production workflows and filmmaker show and tells, including a SuperMeet Digital Showcase featuring hardware and software developers providing workflow solutions for digital filmmakers and content creators.
