, the nation‘s leading producer of education-rich conferences for the TV, video and film industries, announced today that it is now accepting applications for the

Editors Retreat 2007

, an exclusive four-day summit for selected video and film editors to immerse themselves in the craft and community of professional editing. The Retreat will be held January 24th - 28th in Miami Beach, Florida. It is produced by Future Media Concepts (FMC) in association with the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB), and sponsored in part by Adobe, Apple, and Avid. Participation is limited to approximately 75 qualified editors. Five years of professional experience is required to apply, and applications are reviewed by a peer committee.

The Editors Retreat features more than thirty five workshops, instruction classes, discussions, and networking events - evenly split between advanced technical sessions, the creativity and craft of editing, and the business of creating a thriving editing career. Presenters include award-winning editors and icons from the editing world who both share their work techniques and attend sessions and networking events alongside their peer attendees. Featured keynote speakers to date include:

• Stuart Bass, Emmy Award-nominated editor of Arrested Development and The Wonder Years, as well as The Office, MacGyver, and many other shows over his 30-year career.

• Chris Franklin, multiple AICE Award-winning commercial editor with thousands of high-profile commercials under his belt. Chris was recently named to Boards Magazine‘s “It” list of notable people in the ad industry.

• Steve Bayes, product manager for Apple Final Cut Pro and a consultant, writer, and instructor specializing in Apple products for video, film and HD.

• Jim Guerard, vice president of Web and video for Adobe Systems and an expert in media workflows.

• Michael Phillips, principal product designer at Avid Technology, recipient of an Academy Award® for Scientific and Engineering Achievement, filmmaker, and author.

An additional keynote speaker from the feature film world will be announced shortly.

In addition to technical and hands-on sessions, the Retreat includes daily peer reel critiques and peer presentations to enable editors to compare notes and approaches. A mini-expo gives attendees a look at the latest technologies from participating manufacturers and the opportunity for one-on-one discussions with company representatives. There are also a number of structured social events and ample free time set aside solely for networking, against the relaxing backdrop of the Deauville Beach Resort and the exciting nightlife of South Beach.

Dan Panerello, Supervising Editor at CBS and attendee of a past FMC-produced Master Editors workshop said, “Networking with the top editors in the world and discussing real issues that come up in edit sessions involving handling clients or technology is not available in any text books anywhere. I enjoyed attending the workshop and have found it extremely valuable. I‘m looking forward to the 2007 event!"

Future Media Concepts President and Conference Chair Ben Kozuch noted, “We‘ve worked very closely with editors and organizations that support editors to provide a program that is truly valuable and useful. The combination of creative sessions and networking with other top editors is unique in the community. With over thirty five sessions focused on the technical aspects, craft, and business of editing, we‘re really looking forward to the lively and insightful discussions that this environment will produce.”
