Tool Adds Creative Technologist Bartek Drozdz to In-House Digital Team

In an effort to further bolster Tool’s position as a leading interactive production resource for the advertising industry, Tool has hired WebGL pioneer and world-renowned interactive developer Bartek Drozdz as its in-house creative technologist and tech director. He will work with Tool’s roster of live-action and interactive directors to execute the studio’s wide-ranging digital projects across the Web, mobile and interactive installations.

“Bartek is a proven visionary in the interactive community and a perfect complement to Tool’s in-house digital team of interactive designers, developers and producers,” noted Tool EP Digital Dustin Callif. “We’re focused on pushing the boundaries of interactive production. Bartek brings a high level of expertise, passion and curiosity for exploring the outer limits of technology. With the addition of Bartek, we now have an in-house digital team complemented by interactive directors that rival any operation in the world.”

With more than 10 years experience in interactive development at high-profile shops like Fantasy Interactive and North Kingdom, Drozdz started as a Flash developer, transitioned to HTML5 and has become a pioneer in WebGL, creating a 3D engine called J3D. He is an industry leader, speaking at major conferences, judging high-profile events, and frequently contributing to important industry magazines and websites. He also runs the popular

blog, where he publishes demos and experiments exploring uses of real-time, interactive 3D online, including WebGL, Unity3D and Flash.

Drozdz’s most recent project of note was FWA’s Site Of the Month: the WebGL-based

interactive music video for Google. Drozdz helped transform the project into a showcase for the fast-rising WebGL Web standard.

“There are a lot of exciting things happening right now in interactive technology, and I want to maximize the potential of these new technologies by teaming up with the best,” stated Drozdz. “Since Tool is the leader in taking advertising fearlessly into the digital realm, there was no more logical place for me to land.”
