Dallas, Sept. 20, 2011 – Stephen Arnold Music, which has produced music for Golf Channel for more than a decade, has composed an upbeat sonic brand for the new season of the cable network’s popular instructional series Playing Lessons. “We have a longstanding history with the Golf Channel and are always excited to work with their great creative team on new music branding projects,” says Stephen Arnold, president of the award-winning music production company. “Composing music for a show such as Playing Lessons is a real pleasure—it’s fun, just like the program.” Playing Lessons, hosted by Brandel Chamblee, features some of the world’s top touring professionals talking through a round of golf with celebrities from the world of sports and entertainment. During each episode, the pro discusses strategy, course management, shot selection and a variety of tips, as well as the featured celebrity’s career highlights. New episodes are airing on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET. “The team at Stephen Arnold Music is so in tune with what we need, and with what is current in the television landscape,” says David Piccolo, creative director of Golf Channel. “This makes them a perfect fit for us. We never have to over explain our direction or brand. They also are very good at expanding on our initial direction with multiple creative options.” For Playing Lessons, the directive was to create a lively and playful soundtrack built on a driving pace that would underscore edited video and graphics. “They wanted a strong, organic music logo to anchor the package, so we came up with a four-note hook and music that incorporates acoustic guitars, a catchy bass line, drums, and some unexpected musical flourishes and sound textures,” explains Chad Cook, vice president of Creative Services at Stephen Arnold Music. The new Playing Lessons music will be used for the show open, teases, and various IDs throughout the show, as well as for promotions. “Music is always a top priority in everything we do,” says David Piccolo, creative director of Golf Channel. “It can literally make or break a project—especially in the golf business. The nature of the game is so different from most other sports. We have to be very strategic about what our music sounds and feels like.” To see a clip from Playing Lessons, and hear the new music, go to
