High schools and colleges from coast to coast are clamoring for the versatility, quality and superior performance of Robert Juliat followspots, according to Bill Conner and Paul Sanow of Bill Conner Associates LLC, theatre planners and designers in Oak Park, Illinois.
They have specified Robert Juliat Super Korrigan 1200W HMI followspots and Buxie 575W MSD followspots in both newly-constructed and renovated theaters in public and private high schools and colleges across the country.
“Schools typically don’t go for high-end lighting, but I like these fixtures and strongly recommend them,” says Conner. “There was a perception that the Robert Juliat followspots were more expensive than others on the market. But my conclusion is that they are not: On a dollar-to-dollar performance basis, they rate better. And thanks to their versatility, they’re a great pick for educational institutions and the variety of productions they stage in their theaters.”
He calls the fixtures “Swiss watches of followspots” for their versatility and reliability. “They are also very quiet. They’re the only followspots I know that don’t need to be enclosed in a control room, too. All of my clients think they’re fantastic.”
Conner and Sanow provide professional theatre planning and design, including the design and specification of production lighting systems and equipment.
Installations that have been completed are Faith Lutheran School in Las Vegas; South Shore High School and Kelly Curie Gage Park High School in Chicago; SCPA in Cincinnati; Pearson Hall in Roswell, New Mexico; V Sue Cleveland High School in Rio Rancho, New Mexico; Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Illinois; and John Cooper School in The Woodlands, Texas.
Projects in the pipeline include Gwendolyn Brooks High School and Southwest Area High School in Chicago; Wadsworth High School in Wadsworth, Ohio; Princeton High School in Princeton, Indiana; North High School in Evansville, Indiana; Edgewood College in Madison, Wisconsin; and Central High School in Rapid City, South Dakota.
Conner has also specified Robert Juliat followspots for Pearl River Community College in Petal, Mississippi and Princeton Community High School in Cincinnati, Ohio.
