With a personal motto of work hard & play hard, Rana Martin brings leadership experience, warmth and energy to her new position of executive producer of Cut + Run’s New York office.
“Rana is a true collaborator and a great idea person with an infectious energy that permeates all that she does, says Managing Director Michelle Burke. “She is the perfect person to build upon our existing foundation in New York and a fantastic addition to Cut + Run as a whole.
“She steps into big shoes with style and enthusiasm, adds founding partner Jon Grover, noting EP Angie Aguilera’s move to Chicago. “Steve (Gandolfi) and I have followed her career for a long time. We admire her entrepreneurial talent and innate ability to bring people together. Not to mention she knows just about everyone in the business.
As a producer and EP, Martin has contributed to projects for Absolut, eBay, Monster.com, Match.com, Coke, Pepsi, Nike, Reebok, Gatorade, LG, Virgin, American Express, MasterCard, Hummer, Cadillac, Volvo, Sprite, and HBO among others. Her University and post-graduate training as an editor inspired a respect for the craft and a passion for the process. Martin’s career began at Lost Planet and Three Fingered Louie, working in project management and sales, before joining Final Cut as producer and then EP.
On Cut + Run she notes: “I started watching the editor reels and couldn’t stop. You are moved to laughter and tears, and the pacing and purpose are evident in each piece. Advertising is evolving at every turn and it is key to have a collective of editors available that are disciplined in every style and approach – storytellers and visionaries. When you enter the Cut + Run NY office you instantly find that you have found a partner in your creative pursuits, as well as a visually inspiring environment in which to work.
Martin says she was also drawn to Cut + Run’s diversity of projects with commercials and advertising-driven experiences part of an overall approach that includes feature films, feature documentaries, award-winning short films and music videos.
“I feel it is important to encourage and support a creative environment that is open for all types of editorial projects – commercials, films, gallery pieces, mobile and more. The possibilities are infinite and inspiring, she explains. “I know that everyone at Cut + Run shares this perspective and it is just one of the many reasons Cut + Run instantly felt like home. I am truly walking on air.
Steve Gandolfi sums it up with an editor’s precision: “It’s a happy new year for all.
