Los Angeles, CA- 18 October, 2007 – Digital Vision, the premier supplier of grading and picture enhancement systems for film and television post-production announced today that The Post Group has purchased the Film Master grading and finishing system to offer tapeless color grading services for HD and SD long-form television, film and video projects. The new system also enables a unified color grading workflow between The Post Group and its DI-focused sister company iO Film, which is equipped with five Film Master systems.
Post Group CEO Stephen Buchsbaum said, “Film Master gives us the opportunity to offer clients full digital grading for HD TV and theatrical mastering, and for home video/DVD. It also gives our classically-trained colorists the opportunity to use the same tools that are used in the DI world. Having Film Master at both The Post Group and iO Film gives us the benefit of integrating our services. We can grade for previews and HD/SD masters, and if a client comes back for a DI, those corrections can be tracked from SD right up to 2K, so the look is maintained without any need to re-transfer the film. It‘s incredibly efficient.”
The Film Master system at The Post Group is implemented on the company‘s SAN, the media of which is accessible to rooms at iO Film–although the two facilities are located in separate buildings half a block apart. This configuration gives the companies added flexibility in enabling colorists from either facility to work on projects at either location.
Digital Vision president and COO, Simon Cuff, said, “Digital grading has crossed from a DI-only capability into the HD/SD realm for both TV and film mastering work. With the file-based workflows that Film Master enables, The Post Group Companies can now take a customer‘s project from dailies to DI, preserving color corrections across the pipeline to eliminate unproductive cycles while providing broader access to high-end creative tools at any point in the process.”
