MLB Network Uses Broadway Systems To Manage Advertising Operations

April 2, 2009 – Grand Rapids, Mich. – Broadway Systems, provider of an innovative software platform designed to help cable networks manage multiple aspects of their advertising businesses, today announced that the recently launched MLB Network selected Broadway Systems to manage its entire advertising operation, from sales and traffic to billing and reporting. MLB Network is using the Broadway Traffic & Billing, Broadway Sales Planning & Proposal, and Broadway Stewardship software modules.

MLB Network launched in approximately 50 million cable and satellite homes on January 1, 2009 as the largest debut in cable television history, exceeding any other cable television launch by approximately 20 million. Plans to launch MLB Network’s operations began in earnest in mid-2008, and Broadway was brought into the project in late October. Accordingly, Broadway went from signing the contract to go-live in a period of about 60 days.

“Expectations for MLB Network were high, and with such a limited timetable, we didn’t have much margin for error. Broadway Systems did an efficient job and were consistently ahead of schedule,â€? said Patti Fallick, director of broadcast operations, MLB Network. “Broadway Systems understands our needs and the software is equally compelling, providing us with the tools we need to manage and grow our business.â€?

Because MLB Network is a new network, there were no legacy system issues. Additionally, MLB Network will not have to go to other vendors for sales planning, proposals, stewardship, or accounting applications. Broadway’s ability to provide the only fully integrated, end-to-end software platform engineered specifically for cable networks made them the clear choice for MLB Network.

“MLB Network is a perfect example of Broadway’s ability to deliver major projects, even with tight deadlines. Everything they needed was ready to go when the network launched, said John Sorensen, president of Broadway Systems. “By choosing Broadway as the backbone for their operation, they are starting with a technologically advanced platform that will serve them well for years to come.
