Mesoft to Debut New Workflow Solutions at NAB

Publish date:

At the upcoming National Association of Broadcasters Convention, Mesoft will unveil several new enhancements to its leading RealityTV/ Documentary workflow software and introduce a new Content Review and Approval workflow solution. Mesoft will be exhibiting at Booth SL14408. Mesoft’s Media Logger™ has been adopted by a growing number of reality TV shows due to the greatly enhanced efficiency and flexibility it brings to the production/post production process. The new Mesoft Story Editor™ is a complimentary application to Mesoft’s Media Logger and will make its public debut at NAB 2008. Story Editor was developed with direct input from working Hollywood producers and story editors and is tailored to manage the extreme volumes of media associated with unscripted television and documentaries. Once media has been ingested and logged into the Mesoft Media Logger, users can assemble storyboards using a graphical interface and a simple drag and drop process. Clips can be reordered individually or in blocks. Other key features include thumbnails for the easy identification of clips, a nesting file system to organize clips, and a powerful search engine that allows users to locate specific clips through the use of cast names, locations, keywords or other metadata.

“It’s designed to work the way a story editor’s mind works, notes Mesoft CTO Freddy Goeske. “The GUI is powerful, but it’s also simple. You can get more things done with less clutter. Mesoft will also showcase at NAB Media Logger’s new support for Sony’s XDCAM®,XDCAM HD. Developed in conjunction with Sony, support for the popular cameras will speed the transition from production to post. Resolving a major stumbling block, it will allow producers to take advantage of the new tapeless cameras’ ability to transfer media at faster than real-time speed while delivering high quality audio. Similarly, Mesoft has added support for Avid’s MXF file format and DNxHD™ as well as Apple’s Final Cut Pro. This new feature will allow media to be directly imported to and exported from editorial systems without recourse to intermediate file formats. Additionally, Mesoft will unveil at NAB, its new web-based Mesoft Content Review and Approval workflow solution. Mesoft’s R&A solution has been completely revamped allowing production decision makers to collaborate, view and annotate clips and screen dailies from any location through a simple-to-use, web-based, cross-platform application. It can also be used as a production repository for other assets such as casting tapes, location stills and documents.
