Hollywood, CA (November 10, 2006)-- As part of recent expansion efforts at Post Logic Studios, the leading Hollywood-based independent post-production and digital intermediate (DI) service facility, post engineering expert Merle Sharp has been appointed Chief Technology Officer and Tracey Grimes returns to the company as Director of Sales. With these new hires, Post Logic Studios remains well positioned to build on its current success and become a model for the digital services company of tomorrow.
“I am delighted to announce the return of both Merle Sharp and Tracey Grimes to Post Logic Studios,” says Birstock. “I have known and worked with Merle for 20 years and he is rightfully one of the industry‘s most respected and brilliant engineers--I have seen him design new facilities from the ground up, and there is no one better suited to build out Post Logic‘s 4K pipeline and extend our DI and visual effects capabilities. Tracey is extremely well-connected and having her back will be key to our success and growth in post services both for studio and independent films.”
With over 20 years industry experience, Merle Sharp has built out entire facilities and sizable expansions for 4MC, VDI, Post Logic, Post Logic New York and Technicolor. Sharp comes to Post Logic Studios after spending a year and half as Vice President of Technical Engineering, Creative Services, overseeing engineering for the technical creative services on the west coast and building out the new Technicolor at Stage 6 on the Sony lot in Culver City. Prior to that, Sharp served as Post Logic‘s Vice President of Engineering for five years. In his previous tenure at Post Logic he was responsible for engineering for all of the company‘s high definition mastering, conversion, scanning and film output services, as well as orchestrating the build-out for the facility‘s new DI theatre. He has also worked as a Chief Engineer for VDI and Image Transform, now part of Ascent Media. In rejoining Post Logic, Sharp‘s main responsibility will be to oversee and design expansion build-outs and optimize workflow and data throughput to optimize workflow efficiency for artists and colorists.
“I am extremely pleased to be back at Post Logic Studios,” said Sharp. “It is really rewarding to work in a flexible, responsive environment where new ideas can be implemented and executed very quickly.”
Tracey Grimes started at Post Logic Studios in 2003 as Director of New Business Development, where as head of the sales department she was responsible for sales, revenues and projections. In 2005, she left to join Technicolor as Director of Independent Theatrical Sales, and now returns to Post Logic as Director of Sales, with her primary focus on managing studio accounts, as well as marketing DI services for independent theatrical productions.
“I am very happy to be working at an independently owned company and I look forward to introducing new clients to this incredible facility and talent base,” said Grimes. “It is terrific to be back with such a great team.”
