Hollywood, CA, November 16, 2006 - Mdots was awarded the 20th Anniversary “Comic Relief” HBO telethon graphics show package. The announcement was made by Emmy Award winner Allan Wells, president/founder, and Marc Dahlstrom, Managing Director, Mdots.

Mdots conceptualized, designed and produced the full show graphics package for the HBO special, which will air on November 18th. “Comic Relief 2006” will take place live from Caesars Palace Colosseum in Las Vegas.

Mdots‘ client is Comic Relief / HBO Comedy Festival. Executive Producers are Bob Zmuda (Comic Relief,) Pat Tourk Lee (HBO Comedy Festival,) John Moffitt (HBO Comedy Festival,) and Bob Crestani (HBO.) Director is Walter Miller and Line Producer is Benn Fleishmann

Regarding the design direction of this year‘s graphics, Senior Designer Vince Jimenez said, “In designing this package, we played off of the elements in the set design, focusing on the raw materials of the structures affected by Hurricane Katrina. The set design featured the stages of the rebuilding process, so we took some of the core textures of wood, brick and steel to create a look reflecting this sense of both chaos and construction. In dealing with bringing comedy to a sensitive subject, we sought to use the most elemental features of the disaster and recovery to present the talent and information in a playful yet respectful manner.”

Again being co-hosted by Robin Williams, Whoopi Goldberg and Billy Crystal, the 20th Anniversary edition of HBO‘s “Comic Relief” will be dedicated to raising funds from TV viewers to help rebuild New Orleans following the deadly Hurricane Katrina. Performers on the show will include Roseanne Barr, Lewis Black, Bill Maher, Ray Romano, Wayne Brady, Sarah Silverman and many others.

Mdots principal Allan Wells executive produced the broadcast show package, with Vince Jimenez as Senior Designer and Design Director, Gabe Schroer as Designer/Animator, Juli Pritchard as Producer, and Marty Wall as Creative Director.
