Luxology customers can now realistically render models into both urban and natural landscapes in just a few clicks with today’s introduction of Luxology’s High Dynamic Range Environments (HDRE) Urban Kit and HDRE Landscape Kit. By combining high-quality HDRI panoramas with matching background plates, these HDRE Kits provide modo users with the power of image-based lighting packaged in an incredibly simple workflow.
“The Luxology kits are about supplying our users with smart content and helping them get to final image faster,â€? said Brad Peebler, president of Luxology. “With these new HDRE kits, it has never been easier to place products, vehicles or creatures into a variety of locations with utterly convincing results.”
The HDRE Urban Kit provides users with five urban environments, all shot in Western North America. These settings offer an industrial appeal with locations such as a road with distant city views, a cracked parking lot, a hanger with an expansive tarmac and a receiving dock at a port. The HDRE Landscape Kit contains serene, nature-filled scenes such as a snowy forest road, a wooden bridge over a creek, a dry creek bed, a grassy knoll and a muddy road next to an estuary.
Each of the kits provides five HDRE spherical panoramas for lighting 3D objects, and six to twelve backplates for seamlessly integrating meshes into the photo-based environment. Inside modo, one simply chooses the overall location from a visual browser, and then selects the particular background plate in which to render the model. Camera registration is automatic and the physically based sun in modo immediately matches the time and location of the scene. This enables the models to cast shadows that match the environment. For final adjustment, a heads up display is provided in the modo viewport that gives the user complete control over direct and indirect lighting intensity, background speculation and even a slider for controlling water puddles on the ground.
Pricing and Availability
Each HDRE Kit is available immediately as a downloaded product for the suggested retail price of USD $99. modo 401 is required to use the kits, and is sold and supported by a network of authorized Luxology resellers around the globe.
