Freitas was formerly regional director for Latin America at Tandberg. This move is part of Electrosonic's new effort to fully commercialize its technology and market it to as wide an audience as possible. "We're delighted to have Leo join Electrosonic and develop a worldwide channel sales plan for our products," says Bowie. "Leo's experience in Latin America for Tandberg and his global distribution experience are great assets to add to our products team." For his part, Freitas says, "I am delighted that Jim Bowie and Electrosonic's board of directors have invited me to take part of Elctrosonic's new chapter of its 40 year history in audiovisual integration. I firmly believe that the new sales channel distribution of Electrosonic's products will bare grate fruits to this organization and enhance brand awareness across the globe ". Freitas held sales positions at Gruppe Telekom, Allnet (Frontier) Communications Inc. and Voxcom Holdings Inc. before joining Drax Inc. in 2001. There he launched the Latin American division and rose to the post of vice president of international business development. In 2004 Freitas moved to Scopus Video Networks, a market leader in broadcasting equipment, as vice president of sales. While there he developed the company's worldwide channel sales strategy, attaining 155 percent of the yearly quota in the inaugural year. He also developed Scopus's worldwide enterprise sales strategy, which resulted in closing deals with multinational giants Pfizer and Nestle and others. Freitas spent the last two and a half years at Tandberg, a market leader in video communications and telepresence. As director of business development he managed the channel sales organization and implemented new go-to-market discipline for strategic accounts and emerging markets. He exceeded sales quotas in 2006 and 2007 and was the company's highest steady growth generator year-over-year 2006/2007. He also served as president of the company's Brazilian subsidiary, Tandberg do Brasil Ltda. A true world citizen, Freitas holds multiple nationalities, speaks native English, Portuguese and Spanish and is also fluent in French and Italian.
