Kaboom Welcomes Head of Production Steven Sills

San Francisco & Los Angeles, CA – (June 24, 2008) -- kaboom productions is excited to announce the addition of Head of Production steven sills. steven is based in Los Angeles and works in close collaboration with owner/EP lauren schwartz who operates out of the company’s San Francisco headquarters. sills comes from an extensive background in productions working with such noted companies as Believe, Furlined, and Smith & Jones. “What I like about steven is that he has a breadth of experience with a wide range projects...from big budgets with traditional spots to those that require creative producing and resourceful budgeting,� says schwartz. “Given the wide range of projects we find ourselves involved with, I wanted someone who was confident and would be well-versed in all facets of production, from traditional to new media, and possess the leadership skills needed for the job.� “lauren has succeeded in creating a production company where she works with people she likes and respects,� says sills. “That’s real success to me. “kaboom is the most collaborative environment I’ve worked in, both in terms of the internal team and how we relate with our agency colleagues,� he continues. “All of the directors I’ve come to know here are true filmmakers whose first priority is always what goes on screen.� steven sills studied filmmaking at New York University Tisch School of the Arts’ Film & Television program. After graduation, Sills spent a year in Tokyo working as a writer and producer for Japan’s national broadcast company, NHK. He then helped launch a Japan-based international production service company called Crazy TV that serviced clients including IBM, Andersen Consulting and Merrill Lynch. In 1999, sills returned to the US and relocated to Los Angeles. He got involved with commercials as a staff bidder for Bruce Dowad Associates working on jobs for Dowad, Robert Logevall, Vincent Ward and Alain Gourrier. He then jumped into freelance production managing on commercial projects with David Cornell, Agust Baldursson, Ulf Johansson, Speck/Gordon, and music video director Antti J. He then moved to producing and worked on jobs with Douglas Avery and Charlie White, among others. In 2006, sills took a hiatus from commercials to produce an independent film, Sinner, which went on to win several festival awards and will be released in Fall 2008. sills has worked in over 15 countries in productions for film, television and advertising. He brings 16 years of production experience to the kaboom team. “Over the years I’ve learned from some excellent executive producers how to support production and still keep the business side of the equation balanced,� concludes sills. “I now have the unique opportunity to apply this experience as Head of Production, and further strengthen kaboom’s Los Angeles presence.� For more about kaboom visit

The Immersive Digital Experiences Alliance (IDEA) will launch at the 2019 NAB Show with the goal of creating a suite of royalty-free specifications that address all immersive media formats, including emerging light field technology. Founding members, including CableLabs®, Light Field Lab Inc, Otoy, and Visby, created IDEA to serve as an alliance of like-minded technology, infrastructure, and creative innovators working to facilitate the development of an end-to-end ecosystem for the capture, distribution, and display of immersive media.


NextRadioTV Deploys Extensive MediorNet Routing Solution From Riedel Communications

NextRadioTV has deployed a large-scale MediorNet real-time signal network from Riedel Communications to serve as the backbone for the broadcaster's brand-new audiovisual infrastructure. The 204-node MediorNet system has been installed in the new NextRadioTV facilities on the Paris campus of the Altice Group, which acquired NextRadioTV in 2016, to support signal distribution, routing, and processing over a single decentralized real-time network.
