HOLLYWOOD POST ALLIANCE CALLS FOR ENTRIES FOR J. MICHAEL BRINKMAN SCHOLARSHIP

LOS ANGELES - (Sept. 26, 2006) The Hollywood Post Alliance announced today the submission period for the J. Michael Brinkman Scholarship and Mentoring Fund is now open. The annual event, now in its 3rd year, is designed to promote scholarship in the art and science of post production

The scholarship program aims to assist the next generation of post production professionals by providing monetary awards, equipment and mentoring opportunities to deserving individuals looking for a career in the industry. This year‘s applicants will have an opportunity to compete for these valuable Scholarship Awards: Grass Valley EDIUS NX with HD Expansion Kit; Apple Final Cut Studio; full registrations to the HPA 2007 Technology Retreat and Summer School for a total value of $5700.

There were a total of seven winners last year with three already working in post and four from local universities and colleges. Previous student winners have come from Los Angeles City College, California State University Northridge and UC San Diego.

Application is open to any resident of Southern California who meets at least one of the following criteria:

• Entrant is currently working in the post production industry and looking to advance their career

• Entrant is currently working in the entertainment industry and looking to cross over into a post production career

• Entrant is a student (minimum of 9 credits) working toward a degree and has a strong interest in a career in post production

J. Michael Brinkman was a leading figure in Hollywood‘s broadcast and post production communities and a founding member of the Hollywood Post Alliance. This scholarship is dedicated to continuing Michael‘s legacy of helping others understand technology and mentoring those who choose to make a career in post production.
