Excellence in Post Production Technologies and Creativity Gala Set For November 6, 2008
May 1, 2008 (Hollywood, CA) The Hollywood Post Alliance has announced the Call for Entries for the Third Annual HPA Awards. This popular award show will take place on November 6th, 2008 when the gala evening event returns to the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles, California. Launched in 2006, the HPA Awards acknowledge creative and technical excellence in the art, science and craft of post production.
The HPA Awards invite entries in the following categories:

ï‚§ Outstanding Color Grading-Commercial
ï‚§ Outstanding Editing-Feature Film
ï‚§ Outstanding Editing-Television
ï‚§ Outstanding Editing-Commercial
ï‚§ Outstanding Audio Post-Feature Film
ï‚§ Outstanding Audio Post-Television
ï‚§ Outstanding Audio Post-Commercial
ï‚§ Outstanding Compositing-Feature Film
ï‚§ Outstanding Compositing-Television

The period of eligibility is September 4, 2007 to September 3, 2008 and eligible work may have debuted domestically or internationally during this period. Entrants need not be members of the Hollywood Post Alliance to submit work for consideration.
In addition to the creative award categories, the HPA Awards recognize outstanding achievements in post-production by individuals, companies and in engineering. The Charles S. Swartz Award for Outstanding Contribution in the Field of Post Production is awarded to a person, group, company or technology that has made a significant artistic, technological, business or educational impact on Post Production and the Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes a post production professional for his or her service and commitment to the field of Post Production. The much sought after Engineering Excellence Award is bestowed upon an individual, company or process that advances post production technology. The awards will be judged and voted upon by a jury of peers in each category.
Judging panels, drawn from professionals in production and post-production, will select nominees and winners. Entries for the Engineering Excellence Awards will be invited to present to engineering award judges at a special HPA event that will be open to the post community.

The HPA Awards were launched in 2006 to highlight the contributions of the talented men and women of the post production industry who are a pivotal part of the creative process and of hit shows, spots and movies. Last yearâ€™s winners included Stefan Sonnenfeld, for the DI color grading of â€œ300,â€? the audio team from â€œThe Bourne Ultimatumâ€?, and commercial spots for Nike, â€œTake Over,â€? and American Express, â€œAnimalsâ€? as well as others. Engineering Awards went to Quantel, and to KIWA. Long time Hollywood post production icon Fred Rheinstein was awarded the Lifetime Contribution to Post Production.
