Holland’s Avi-Drome Purchases Film Master

Stockholm, Sweden – 5 September, 2007 – Digital Vision, the premier supplier of picture enhancement equipment for film and television post-production, announced today that Netherlands post facility, Avi-Drome BV, has purchased a Digital Vision Film Master. The purchase follows Digital Vision integrating support for the Avid editing and workflow environment announced at this year‘s NAB in Las Vegas.

Avi-Drome, based in Hilversum, is one of the Netherlands‘s foremost post-production facilities operating close to 70 non linear edit systems and works primarily on info-tainment, documentaries and drama for television. Film Master is the premier file based mastering and finishing system for feature films, commercials, long-form television, and restoration applications.

“We became interested in Film Master because of the possibilities of grading media originating from Avid MXF workflows directly in a file-based environment,” commented Peter Bruggink, CTO of Avi-Drome. “We are moving to a completely tapeless workflow which will extend from studio and XD-CAM ingest through to upload to the playout servers, and grading is, of course, a vital component of that process.

“All media is held on our 170TB Avid Unity ISIS media server and we will be able to grade this media without re-ingesting or transcoding, saving time and improving the quality of the finished piece,” he added.

“Digital Vision was the first company to join Avid‘s DNxHD® codec licensing program,” said Digital Vision President and COO, Simon Cuff. “We are delighted that the fruits of our work integrating our two technologies – reducing storage requirements, removing import/export delays and avoiding the introduction of compression artefacts – are already being recognised in the marketplace.”

Digital Vision provides innovative image restoration, enhancement, colour correction and data conforming systems that major movie studios, television networks and post-production facilities use to produce and enhance feature films, TV programs and commercials. The company‘s Nucoda product line provides a strong suite of products for tapeless and non linear grading for HD broadcast and 2k/4k digital intermediate productions.

The company‘s award-winning products are a standard of the media and entertainment industry and are deployed at top facilities and broadcasters around the world.Digital Vision AB was founded in 1988 and is headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, with two wholly owned subsidiaries, Digital Vision (US) in Los Angeles, California, and Digital Vision UK in London, England. The company maintains its global presence through a network of qualified distributors. Digital Vision is listed on the Stockholm stock exchange. For further information, go to
