Working under the direction of the HealthiNation creative team, FlickerLab provided the graphics and postproduction for a series of informational programs and true life stories for the new digital health education network available via the MSO‘s free video-on-demand platform. The ad-supported network, which became available online in the fall of 2006, offers video segments about a wide range of health-related topics.
Each of us faces different challenges in trying to live healthy lives. HealthiNation has done extensive research, with both their medical advisors and the public, to determine what medical issues people want to know about and how to communicate information in an engaging and informative way.
Flickerlab, the New York-based design and animation studio, edited and completed the audio for a series of short-form videos, scripted and shot internally by HealthiNation. Graphics and 3D animations were developed with direction from HealthiNation‘s creative team. Programs cover topics as diverse as: breast cancer, chemotherapy, cholesterol, common cold, diabetes, asthma, menopause and overweight children.
Karen Stewart, FlickerLab Executive Producer, stated, “It was exciting to be part of the launch of a VOD and online network and to design content and packaging that works across both the broadcast and online platforms.”
Tony Estrella, co-founder of HealthiNation stated “Our team enjoyed the flexibility and creative input provided by FlickerLab through the post-production process. FlickerLab has a strong network of production resources and facilities that helped us achieve our goal for completing production in a collaborative and time-sensitive manner.”
The FlickerLab team included Executive Producer Karen Stewart; Designers Azin Shamma and Phil Price; Senior Producer Mike Sullo; Producer Franklin Zitter; 2D Animators Phil Price, Devin Clark, Robert Jan Des Vries and Danny Princz; Editors Ben Forgash, Sue Lee and Kris Widger; Sound Designer/Mixer Tom Lino and DP Bill Bradley who shot on location in New York, NY and Atlanta, GA.
FlickerLab utilized Adobe After Effects and Photoshop, and Apple Final Cut Pro in the execution of package.
The HealthiNation creative team included Executive Producers Raj Amin and Tony Estrella, Senior Producer Brendan Anderer and Creative Director Ken Yagoda.
Animator Floyd Gillis of AFCG (Vancouver, Canada) produced the custom 3D animation sequences.
Stock footage for the project was obtained from Corbis (New York, NY) and Bill Bradley of Shadow Productions (Atlanta, GA).
Ray Foote of Bigfoote (New York, NY) composed the musical underscore.
