Dublin’s Screen Scene Opens Second DI Film Master Room

Publish date:

Stockholm, Sweden – 14th April, 2008 – Digital Vision, the premier supplier of picture enhancement systems for film and television post-production, is pleased to announce that Dublin’s leading post facility, Screen Scene, has purchased a second Film Master DI grading system for DI-TWO its second DI grading environment. The facility has already had great success with its first Film Master system, housed in DI-ONE its purpose built digital grading theatre. Recent work includes award-winning DI projects Garage, Kings and the Oscar-winning Once. “We have been grading DI for over 18 months and have achieved great success in the past with Adam and Paul, Blind Flight, Studs and Freeze Frame. The response is such that we had to open a second room DI-TWO, says Jim Duggan, Managing Director, Screen Scene. Recent broadcast credits include Rock Rivals, The Old Curiosity Shop, and My Boy Jack for ITV, Fairy Tales and Oliver Twist for the BBC, and Prosperity for RTE. “We bought our first Film Master because we wanted to offer Directors and DoPs new possibilities especially in 2k and 4k, says Gary Curran, Director and Senior Colourist with Screen Scene. “I have been grading on the system for over 18 months and I think by now everyone sees the benefits. We looked at all options out there and Film Master is undoubtedly the best. The problem Screen Scene rapidly faced was their two grading suites, one Film Master and one Pogle, were increasingly mismatched. “Clients weren’t happy to switch between the Film Master toolset and the Pogle so we put in a second Film Master system and opened DI-TWO, says Duggan. The ability to run shared workflows across DI-ONE and DI-TWO and into the finishing rooms via the Film Master/Avid handshake is a great benefit to the facility. The Film Masters are currently at work on two Company Pictures projects for the BBC, George Gently and Desperadoes, with plenty more broadcast and film DI work lined up. “We don’t consider ourselves loyal to any manufacturer; we buy the best kit for the job. We’re driven by our operators, if they say ‘Get one of those’ we do. And in this instance the hugely beneficial Avid/Film Master workflow is the cherry on the top of the cake, concludes Duggan. “Eighteen months ago we sold the first ever DI grading system into Dublin and are delighted that Screen Scene have purchased a second Film Master, comments Digital Vision COO and President, Simon Cuff. “Screen Scene performs extremely high quality DI and broadcast work on some very high profile projects, all of which serves as a great showcase for the tools and abilities we have built into Film Master. Digital Vision provides innovative image restoration, enhancement, colour correction and data conforming systems that major movie studios, television networks and post-production facilities use to produce and enhance feature films, TV programs and commercials. The company’s Nucoda product line provides a strong suite of products for tapeless and non linear grading for HD broadcast and 2k/4k digital intermediate productions.
