Digital Vision Adds France’s Top Post and Broadcast Facilities to Client List as Install Base Continues to Grow

April 17, 2009 (Stockholm, Sweden)

Digital Vision

, the premier supplier of picture enhancement systems for film and television post-production, has announced a number of recent sales to leading post and broadcast facilities in Paris. The French sales go across the Digital Vision product spectrum, and all systems were sold and installed by French reseller SAV. The companies include; Digimage, France 3, Artistic Images, Éclair, Planimonteur and Film Factory.

Simon Cuff, President and COO of Digital Vision noted, “These recent success stories in France highlight what has been taking place in many countries as we see an expanded adoption of Digital Vision technology. These clients are producing the highest quality content for commercials, broadcast and film, and they have all chosen our technology based upon the quality of the deliverable, processing and operational performance and workflow efficiency.”

The well-established audio and video post facility Digimage, has invested in a Nucoda HD grading system to be used on high profile projects for commercials, TV programs and documentaries. Angelo Cosimano, CEO at Digimage commented, “Nucoda is a great colour grading system that our colorists immediately embraced. It has a complete picture enhancement toolset that acts like a Swiss army knife, and we look forward to integrating Turbine, which will add high performance distributed processing.”

National French broadcaster France 3 added a Nucoda HD colour grading system to its post production workflow as well as Data Conform and shared storage. France 3, headquartered in Paris with facilities in Lille, Marseille and Lyon, selected the Nucoda HD for use on high value TV dramas, documentaries and episodics. One of the reasons for choosing the system was its integration with the Avid product range. Gérard Sissung, Manager of France 3 Lille Centre, stated, “We tested many different solutions and Nucoda HD was the fastest and the most efficient solution for our HD projects. We also wanted integrated restoration tools and we were confident in the Digital Vision technology and support. All this and the open platform, shared storage and a flexible upgrade strategy made us choose the Nucoda HD.”

Artistic Images is a cinema post production facility as well as a research institute for 3D animation. Using its newly purchased Film Master system, the company has finished French director Elie Chouraqui’s most recent film, ‘Celle que j’aime’. The film was edited on an Avid using the HD codec DNx36, then conformed and graded on Nucoda, where the HD 4:4:4 material was ingested from HD CAM SR. The project was then graded on Film Master and printed back to film for theatrical release.

The Éclair Group is the leading post production facility and laboratory in France. Its subsidiary, Éclair Laboratories, developed an entire restoration and HD re-mastering pipeline that allows them to complete five to ten films per month, in HD and 2K. “The DVNR 2K is a key component in our pipeline for HD and 2K DI, restoration and standard conversion that performs amazingly in an intense and industrial environment,” stated Frantz Delbecque, Technical Director.

Planimonteur is a well-known French post facility specializing in commercials, documentaries, narrative and reality television. Planimonteur added a Nucoda HD grading system as a key component in its tapeless workflow which includes seventeen Avid editing systems. “The Nucoda HD has allowed us to step forward and be recognized as a major player in colour grading,” says Philippe Morisset, Director of Production of Planimonteur. “Its performance and easy use has thrilled clients and our own colorists, allowing us to bid on new creative projects.” The company has just successfully completed two full HD TV series.

Film Factory, a full service boutique providing digital intermediate and audio video services for feature film and television post production, has added a Film Master to its workflow. The Nucoda HD grading system is used on high profile projects for film, documentaries, TV programs and commercials. From its launch, Film Factory had the goal of creating an entire HD workflow for feature film and long form programming. Services at Film Factory also include compositing and creation of show openings. A few recent titles from Film Factory are; AGAT Films: ‘Ne te retourne Pas’ Film de Marina de VANN (Sophie Marceau & Monica Bellucci) / ‘Ma mec à moi’ Film de ZILBERMAN (Antoine de Caune & Elsa Zilberstein) and EPITHETE Films: ‘Mic Mac à tire l’arigot’ Film de Jean Pierre JEUNET (Dany Boon).
