Iroquois, ON, Canada - October 24, 2006 - Ross Video announced today Current TV, a national cable and satellite channel founded by Al Gore and Joel Hyatt dedicated to bringing the viewers voice to television has invested in a Synergy 4 MD-X digital production switcher. Synergy is being used daily for everything from simple pod wraps to full blown multi-studio productions using both the Los Angeles and San Francisco stages at the same time.
Current TV‘s facility is state-of-the-art, fully digital, HD-ready, tapeless environment. Macintosh servers using BugTV software are their record, playback, and graphic machines. There are no CGs and no Still Stores. We use Motion, and After Effects for complete creative freedom. The Synergy 4 MD-X is in full control of these servers through the BugTV software. The Los Angeles stage also sports a Synergy 100 for smaller multi-camera shoots.
“Current is a new network with a brand new facility. When the decision was made to invest in a production switcher, we knew the Synergy 4 MD-X would give us full SD and HD capability and complete control of servers and cameras through the Custom Controls. The switcher is extremely easy to operate, its straightforward and logical,” said, Danny Skarka, Head Technical Director, Current TV. “What‘s more, Ross is a company that is really interested in my opinion. Ross wants detailed input from their users, and you just don‘t get the same experience with the other manufacturers.”
“We are very excited Current TV has invested in Synergy Multi-Definition technology to deliver unique, high quality content to their audience,” said David Ross, CEO, Ross Video. “At Ross we listen to our customers needs and strive to deliver products that will perform in any SD or HD environment.”
The Synergy MD/X series are fully equipped multi-definition production switchers supporting a wide variety of SD and HD video formats. Synergy MD/X is based on the latest technology in both hardware and software offering a readiness for the future. Synergy MD/X does not require costly upgrades when moving from SD to HD.
