The Brief:

Is your childs mind malnourished? Perhaps a bowl of arts enriched Raisin Brahms will satisfy. Or how about a cup of Van Goghurt? Either choice is guaranteed to increase children's test scores, creative problem solving and enhance their reading and math skills. In this whimsical campaign for Americans For The Arts, via Leo Burnett, Crossroads director Marcus McCollum brings the great German composer Johannes Brahms and visionary post impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh to life to help mentally starved children discover just how important and fun the arts are for their growing minds.

From Director Marcus McCollum:

When I first saw the boards from this campaign I knew they were special. They had a great message, they were funny, creative and well written. The creative team at Leo Burnett (Craig Shparago, Pablo Luzzi, and producer Bonnie VanSteen) were fantastic to work with and the collaboration was enjoyable. I love when a project pushes the boundaries of almost every crew member's abilities. In this case, we collaborated intensively with DP Doug Hostetter, animation studio Headgear, makeup artist Kara McCollum and production designer Michael Gaw. We also had a great cast who really brought the spots to life. The client understood the benefits of letting us create something that was memorable and funny, while at the same time effectively communicating the message. I'll peddle Van Goghgurt as long as the 3rd period art class is full next year. The message is that we all have to do our part to keep the arts a top priority for ourselves as well as our children.
